Nguyen Hong Phuong
Nguyen Phuong is a Water Resources Engineer with Master Degree in Engineering awarded by the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. Prior to joining the Mekong Wetlands Biodiversity Programme, Phuong worked for about three years as a project engineer for an UNDP project, and more than three years a as training programme coordinator/officer for the Asian Institute of Technology Center in Viet Nam in the field of environment and development. In addition she has more than one year of working experience in a governmental institution of agriculture and rural development. Her main expertise is integrated water resources management, water environment, environmental impact assessment, and rural development.
National Communications and Training Coordinator
Tham Thi Hong Phuong
Tham Phuong’s background is mathematic and computer science. She has been trained and practiced in communications for rural development. Before joining the MWBP, Tham Phuong worked for seven years as Communication & Publication Officer for WWF Indochina Programme and about three years as Information-
Education-Communications (IEC) Assistant Project Officer for UNICEF Viet Nam. She has been trained also in project management, communications, multi-stakeholder processes for decision making. Her main responsibility was management and providing technical inputs for IEC activities, including advocacy and mobilizing, media, training, documentation for exchange.
Finance and Administration Officer
Pho Thanh Van
Van has a Bachelor of Economics with specification in Finance and Banking from Ha Noi National Economics University and a Bachelor of Art in German and English languages. She has spent more than seven years of working in government development projects in Viet Nam. Before joining MWBP, Van was the Chief Secretary cum Programme Assistant for an Economic Reform project managed by the German Technical Corporation (GTZ) and the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). She also worked as the Component Accountant for the Seed Component, a funded Danida project implemented by the Viet Nam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) focusing on the sustainable development of the seed industry in Viet Nam. In addition, she has been trained in the field of international development cooperation through various training courses. Here in MWBP, Van handles all the financial and administrative aspects of the National Programme Office.
Tran Thi Thu Trang
Trang has a BA degree in English with additional training in Office Management and Secretary. Prior to joining MWBP, she worked as Secretary for an EU project involving health development and as Programme Admin Assistant to UNDP project in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

IUCN Wetlands Project Co-Manager
Nguyen Huu Thien
Thien considers himself as a conservationist and a rural development professional. He obtained an M.Sc degree in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA and a Bachelor degree in Water Work Engineering from Can Tho University, Vietnam. Prior to joining MWBP, Thien worked for CARE in Vietnam as project manager of the U Minh Thuong Integrated Conservation and Development Project, and before that he had been a lecturer at Can Tho University in the field of natural resource management and rural development. He enjoys telling jokes, playing a guitar, and singing and is good at Chinese Chess.
Provincial Wetlands Project Co-Manager Long An
Le Phat Quoi
Mr Le Phat Quoi is the Head of Science Managemnt of DoST in Long An Province and a visiting Lecturer of Universities of Polytechnology. He has a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy (CTU, Vie.) and a Masters in Soil Science (RUG, Bel.). Le Phat Quoi has working in other international and national projects including: VH-10 Project (Netherlands), Problem Soils Projects (SAREC), Flood Monitoring in Lower Mekong Basin Project (RADARSAT International, Canada), Phuoc Hoa Multipurposes Water Resource Project (ADB), Dong Nai River Basin Project (ADB), Mekong Delta Water Resource Project (WB), and Suitable Landuse Planning Towards Environmental Protection in the Eastern Region (National Project).

Huynh The Phien
Mr Huynh The Phien has a major in Irrigation and Water
Works Engineering. After graduating from Can Tho University in 1980, he has been working in Dong Thap province in different positions, such as Chief of Irrigation & Water Works Office of Cao Lanh District; Director of Irrigation and Rural Development Company of Dong Thap; Deputy Director of DARD; Depuy Director of DONRE and currently Director of National Park Tram Chim. He would like to further study ecology and environment. His likes swimming, traditional food, music and tourism.
Wetlands Project Technical Advisor
Churchill Fedoc Cordero
Mr Churchill Fedoc Cordero has a Bachelor of Science in
Fisheries, majoring in Marine Fisheries, from the University of the Philippines and is completing a Master of Science in Fisheries Biology. Previously he has worked in organisations such as e-WORKS Cellphone & Computer Works, as a Marine Biologist on the Coral Reef Assessment Project - United Nations Compensation Claims Project and as a Graduate Research Associate, Integrated Management of Archipelagic Fishery Resources (IMAFR) Project – Fish-Gear Interaction Studies, Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology (IMFO) – College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV) - Miagao, Iloilo, Philippines.
Vu Thi Bich
Ms Bich has Bachelor of Art degress in English and Russian.
Before joining MWBP she worked with a varierty of organisations (state-run and private) and with not-for-profit organisations in the fields of tourism, oil exploration, marine survey and capacity building. Her positions included public relations, interpreter, secreatary and project assistant.
Finance and Administration Officer
Le Thi Minh Huyen
has a BA degree in English with additional training in Secretary and Accounting. Prior to joining MWBP, she worked as Project Officer for CIDSE, an NGO's project involving with savings and credit and as Project Accountant to Cida, and ODA’s fund involving in Improved Rural Livelihoods Project in Soctrang province.
Graduated from university with a Bachelor in Russian and English, Ms Duong Quy Hien also has degrees in secretarial and banking courses. Prior to joining MWBP team as secretary, Ms Hien worked for Franco-Vietnamese hospital as a receptionist and cashier at the Emergency department. She like helping people in nature and environment protection activities.
