Financial & Administration Training Course

To establish and run financial and accounting system in each office and ensure reporting systems is one major task of the MWBP program activity. Therefore, a Financial and Administration Training Course was successful conducted for all programme managers, officers and, financial and admin officers from the regional, national and site level. The training time was three days (27-29 April 2005) with an extra day being dedicated to a team meeting (26 April 2005).
For the one day team meeting, the participants were very happy to:
• get to know each other;
• share expectations
• raise questions;
• learn from the past six month of work; and
• share future hopes. They also had chance to get gain a deeper understanding of the Monitoring and Evaluation reporting database and the program work plan.
For the three day training, the major topics were introduced and discussed are:
Program operating structure;
Financial management in IUCN via MWBP;
Budget development and implementation (proposed schedule);
Requesting funds for activities and operation;
Converting current activity costing to task costing and prepare the first quarterly budget vs. actual report.
Additional unclear points related to above topics were discussed and clarified:
Matrix management work guideline for MWBP
Budget development and implementation with the detailed process and practical time frame of each plan;
Per Diem / DSA in all locations.
It was concluded that this event successfully completed all aims. Trainers worked hard using relevant materials and methods of training, and especially answering all the questions raised by the participants. The training organiser helped to ensure this event ran smoothly, with all participants being actively involved and contributing.
